The Journey
They say, “the first step is the hardest,” but is it really?
Is the first step the hardest? Is the first workout the hardest? Is the first of week of school the most difficult?
Have we been lead astray? Saying, “the first step is the hardest,” in general is a decent statement to help motivate someone to start moving in the “right” direction. Some of us need that first nudge to move forward… but really… is it the first step…
If we step back (haha) and really look at most situations/goals/things that need done, it is never the first step that is the hardest. I would venture to say that the first step is the easiest. Hear me out; that first workout is difficult, yes, but when day 3 and 4 hit and you are so sore you can barely walk- that is when you have to dig deep within yourself to keep going. To fight through the pain. To stick with the program. It is when the pain sets in that things really get difficult and we have to decide, “am I going to let pain win? am I going to give in and have a couple rest days.” I don’t know about anyone else but once I allow myself that rest, it is so much easier to just stop all together, one rest day turns into a rest week then a rest month. (Kudos to those that can rest and jump right back in!!)
The first week of school is more often than not a formality of getting aquatinted with the teacher, the school, the curriculum, the syllabus, etc.. It is getting your planner organized. Writing notes to remember this date and that date. A couple weeks in when you had a late night and did not read the assigned material is where it hurts. The lecture cannot sink in because you did not get that reading the material to have a good foundation of the material. It is that one assignment you did not get a chance to complete. Maybe you’ve been studying your brain away and you still did not test well.. it is in those moments that you think, “am I cut out for this? Is this really my career path?”
Some of us it is not the first step that is the most difficult, it is the endurance to finish. It is not the beginning. It is a quarter of the way through when the finish line is not in sight but the beginning is too far behind us… Three steps onto the diving board where you are unsteady… where you are wobbly and you know it is too late to try and walk back to the ladder because you will most likely slip and fall. You are still three steps away from the end where you get the best spring to make an impressive dive… it is the in-between.
Where the road seems like you have so much further to go and you really don’t know if you can make it.
That my friends, that is where growth happens.
In the pain. In the stretching. In the tears.
It’s never the first step… it is the journey…
The journey when you finally complete your fitness program feeling your best. The pride you feel as you switch the tassle on your graduation cap. It is not the beginning that made you and the accomplishment in and of itself does not change who you are, it was the journey to get there that changed you.
What is the journey you have been wanting to start? Maybe you started and took that first step but lost endurance.
This website is part of my first step. I have wanted to start a blog for years and years and love to write, I finally took the first steps, over 6 months ago!!! I bought this domain and did absolutely nothing with it. It sat in the back of my mind. I’ve had so many things I wanted to write but always said, “I will remember to write it once I start my blog.” Today I am finally walking into this journey!! I am so excited to share my heart and experiences with you guys.
I pray this can be a place of growth and hope for many. How can I help you on your journey?

That’s is so true. It is when things get tough when we think we can’t do it that’s when we need to reach down deep and take the struggle by its hand and push forth. Ypu are an inspiration to all and I am so glad to be able to call you my friend. Can’t wait to keep reading your blog.
